Michael Cheika has had a tough week.
If his side being outplayed by the Sharks in Durban wasn't enough, reports have emerged today that he is under SANZAR investigation for threatening a camera operator shortly after the loss on Sunday morning. A Super Sport representative had this to say;
"A couple of choice words were used. Where Super Sport draws the line is being threatened."
Sadly, I can't say I was shocked to read this news, I can only hope that what Cheika said to the camera man was only a fraction of what he gave to his players after such a insipid performance.
Aside from dealing with this, Cheika has also been involved in a verbal stoush with Sharks coach Jake White who after his sides victory claimed, "Whatever Michael Cheika says, we believe, don't we." A clear shot at the style of Rugby that Cheika tries to enforce at the Tahs.
Cheika responded to White's comments in a fashion that we've come to expect,
"I didn't read them in detail but it wouldn't hurt me to be criticised by someone who's disingenuous, so it doesn't hurt me,"
Hopefully Cheika is busy focusing on this weeks game against the Stormers, with the suspension of Rob Horne he must be hoping that Izzy Folau is fit to play.
This is a game where the Waratahs must take something. Returning from a fortnight in South Africa with zero points isn't good enough.
Is Cheika too passionate? Does he need to rein his emotions in?
