Michael Cheika bounced back from a disappointing loss to the Sharks by masterminding a tactical victory over the Stormers that showcased the depth of his coaching victories.
Rather than ringing their title credentials, Cheika as per usual was quick to play down the victory saying,
"We got them in a good week. They had just had four weeks on tour, had a few injuries, no Jean de Villiers, no Schalk Burger, no Gio Aplon, so it hurt them."
Cheika definitely has a point, while any away victory is valuable in Super Rugby it was against a Stormers outfit that weren't anywhere near their best. If you read between the lines of the last few press conferences, it's obvious the scalp of the Sharks was the main pursuit on this tour, one which the Tahs completely missed.
Cheika must be chuffed with the amount of frequent flyer points he's racked up over the last few weeks, and his balance is getting bigger as the Tahs head to Perth this week to face the resurgent Force.
Just like in round one Cheika has been talking up the Force this week, noting their underrated players,
"They've been sold short in the past and now a few people are eating their words because those top players are delivering."
Here's hoping Cheika can deliver a similar result to round one.
