Reece Robinson in code switch

Strike a blow for rugby union because it appears Parramatta Eels flyer Reece Robinson is headed to the NSW Waratahs as of next season.

News Corp reports that the 28-year-old fullback met with Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson this week and is on the verge of signing a deal.

Robinson, a prolific tryscorer, plied his trade for Brisbane and Canberra before joining the Eels and has scored 57 tries in 116 first grade appearances across the three clubs.

This season he touched down for nine tries in 20 appearances for the Eels, a distant second to Semi Radradra, who bagged 24.

It is understood that Robinson had previously considered a cross-code move for up to two years and was near to a deal earlier this year but the Tahs signed Zac Guildford and Matt Carraro instead.

With confirmation that Wallaby winger Taqele Naiyaravoro will move to Scotland after the World Cup, there is a spot open.

Robinson will become the third player with NRL experience on the Waratahs books alongside former Storm star Israel Folau and former Warriors forward Sam Lousi.

Aside from Naiyaravoro, the Tahs have lost Adam Ashley-Cooper, Peter Betham, Jono Lance and Ben Volavola from the 2015 roster to overseas clubs.
